The Guitar Extravaganza Five Towns College Guitar Extravaganza has been recognized as the premier guitar concert event in the country. Under the direction of Peter Rogine, this concert often features music exactly as recorded, demonstrating beautiful music that has thrilled DHPAC audiences year after year. Guitar lovers enjoy to attend and are impressed with the professionalism of the concert that includes a simultaneous media presentation. Afterward, there is a Meet-the-Artist-and-their-Classic-Guitars Reception. Each Extravaganza has special surprises both at the concert and afterwards. FTC Vocal Jazz Ensemble Whether it is Classical music, Jazz, Latin Jazz, Bossa Nova, The Beatles, or R & B, you will be thrilled by precise and soaring harmonies of the FTC Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Drawing on the vocal group tradition of Lambert, Hendricks & Ross, Manhattan Transfer and the Single Singers, the FTC Jazz Ensemble is inspired by 50 years of contemporary musical artists, adding breathtaking new arrangements, exciting energetic beats and haunting harmonies that delight audience members. Tribute to Jazz Piano The Jazz Piano Tribute is a Five Towns College tradition featuring exceptional students, faculty, and guest artists. Included are selections from the Great American Songbook, jazz standards and original compositions. Each year the best of FTC jazz piano students perform, followed by a master jazz pianist in an extraordinary event for jazz and piano lovers. An Evening of Jazz – The FTC Jazz Orchestra & FTC Swing Band This is an exiting evening for Big Band lovers with the FTC Jazz Orchestra and Swing Band. The Swing Band performs big band music of the past while the FTC Jazz Orchestra presents a diverse program, mixing the music of great composers, arrangers and bands from the recent, past, and present. FTC Jazz Ensembles Students performing in the FTC College Small Group Jazz Ensembles study all time periods and styles from the first 100 years of Jazz. At the end of each semester, FTC Jazz Ensembles have a concert featuring the very best ensembles performing repertoire from the Blues, American Songbook standards, pieces from the early formative years of Jazz/Dixieland and BeBop, on up into Hard Bop, Mainstream Jazz, Fusion, and Modern /Contemporary Jazz. FTC Small Group Jazz Ensembles offers challenging jazz musical studies for the FTC college students and an enjoyable jazz concert for audiences of all ages.
