The Tribute to Lionel Hampton and Ella Fitzgerald was wonderfully fine jazz. DHPAC has the best Jazz on Long Island and is to be applauded for keeping the history, understanding and appreciation of Jazz alive on Long Island. Your big band Jazz shows are fantastic and the Guitar Extravaganzas with Pete Rogine and his talent students are the best. Jazz is alive at DHPAC.
I look forward to the John Lennon Birthday Celebration every year because I grew up with John’s music and it brings back happy memories and a sense of a better world again.
I am a big fan of Rock ‘n’ Roll and just love many of the DHPAC shows. Where else on Long Island can you get such an array of great talent and spend a comfortable night in a great performing arts center listening to the songs you love!
I am amazed every time I hear the FTC Vocal Jazz Ensemble as they perform a wide variety of jazz and pop songs from the greats. Their harmonies are so sophisticated and inspiring... I love the sound.
My husband and I love the big bands of the past, and like hearing the newer big band music also. The music of Glen Miller, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington and Tommy Dorsey are some our favorites. Thank you DHPAC for providing us with such a pleasant evening.
I play piano, and love jazz. It is wonderful to be among so many jazz piano lovers in the Dix Hills Performing Arts Center. I so appreciate the Tribute to Jazz Piano. It is a jazz highlight for me each year. Thank you Scott Ballin for directing such a high-quality tribute. Your student are so talented and your guest artists are all jazz masters.
Thanks for another Guitar Festival with exciting virtuosos and exceptional workshops. It’s with great pleasure that I come to this festival each fall. I am certain to keep telling my guitar-loving friends about this gem of a show that brings world-class guitarists to Long Island year after year.
Peter Rogine, Joe Carbone, Tony Romano and Steve Briody are the best… the regular guitar all-stars of the FTC Guitar Extravaganza. They are passing along the long tradition of studio, club and concert hall guitar material and performances to the students and the please guitar loves at the same time. I love the Meet-the-Artists-and-Classic-Guitar-Reception after the show.
The Concert Pops Tribute to composer John Williams was sensational. I was amazed by the original student movie that accompanied the tribute, showing clips of the best scores by John Williams, perfectly synchronized with the music conducted by Dean Karahalis, a Long Island treasure!
What is great about the barbershop and a cappella harmony show is it brings back so many terrific memories of the old songs we listened to and sang. I wouldn’t miss this show for anything, The chorus harmonies are out-of-this-world and the quartets are so much fun.
The Producers’ musical theater production at Five Towns College was unbelievable, top notch! These shows are often as good as Broadway. On Broadway, I have spent $600 on tickets, parking, transportation and dinner and I had just as good a time right here in the Dix Hills Performing Arts Center.
The Great American Songbook shows bring back extraordinary memories and remind me of love and the deeper meaning of life. This golden age of songwriting is to be cherished. I wish the young generation could hear these songs. What a fantastic performance. DHPAC is the best.

We brought our 3-year old to see Dora. We've never been to DHPAC and didn't know what to expect. I can't believe this gem is in our own backyard. My husband and I are looking forward to seeing a show here in the spring!
