“Top of the Pops” featuring Five Towns College
Pops Orchestra with Dean Karahalis
Long Island’s favorite Conductor June 9, July 21 and August 11, at 7:30 p.m.

May 19, 2011, Dix Hills, NY --The Dix Hills Performing Arts Center is proud to present a summer full of light, breezy, popular music, in its annual musical salute to Broadway, Hollywood and more. The “Tops of the Pops” series features Dean Karahalis conducting the Five Towns College Concert Pops of music students and alumni. Three Thursday night performances are scheduled for June 9, July 21 and August 11 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are free.
Dean Karahalis is founder of the Concert Pops, a professional orchestra and concert band, as well as the conductor and musical director of the Five Towns College Pops. He has performed with the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra, New York Lyric Choir, Goldovsky Opera and is also Musical Director/Founder of the New York Brass Choir.
He is an artist-clinician for the Conn-Selmer Musical Instrument Company and has performed extensively as a guest conductor and soloist throughout the United States. Recent conducting highlights have included performances at the United States Figure Skating Championships, U.S. Air Force Band, Washington, D.C., and a Night at the Opera with Metropolitan Opera star Robert Merrill.
As a follow-up to these performances, the FTC Pops will be featured artists in “Music Under the Stars” free outdoor concerts scheduled for July and August throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties.
