TOMORROW, The Sun Will Come Out
Tribute to Johnny Cash with Tom Cavanagh
An Afternoon of Music & Dancing with Cabaret Singer-Pianist, Phyllis Tagg
Phyllis Tagg is most noted and praised for her dynamic performances throughout the 1960’s in Manhattan’s most renowned night clubs and supper clubs including The Living Room, The Plaza, The Rainbow Room as well as Jilly’s, where Frank Sinatra was a regular customer and fan! She is touted for her “Jazz Influenced” musicianship, arrangements and song stylization, consistently delivering exciting performances with a “tasteful flair” and “warmhearted stage presence.” Phyllis has made an indelible impression upon us at DHPAC by gracing her timeless musicianship with a voice that is smooth as “velvet.” Her incredible sense of song interpretation and expressive delivery are rare; her piano accompaniment is uniquely skillful. Combined into a woven tapestry, Phyllis displays an ease in her ability to flow tempos and phrase with freedom, precision and poise, creating feeling that is deep and sincere. She selects material that creates connection and intimacy in each performance. Back by popular demand, it’s Phyllis Tagg, the consummate Entertainer!

Charlie Parker with Strings
Charlie Parker with Strings has become one of the most famous jazz albums of all time. Featuring the world’s greatest alto saxophonist with a lush string ensemble backing him up, the 1949-1950 recordings produced have become nothing short of legendary.
On June 2nd trumpeter Tom Manuel and alto saxophonist Chris Donohue team up to recreate some of the most romantic moments in jazz “ala strings.” Backed by the Black Tie Affair Orchestra, Long Islands’ premier big band and complimented with a lush string section, this performance promises to be nothing short of extraordinary.
Autumn In New York, Summertime, They ain’t Take That Away From Me, Laura and others are just a few of the Charlie Parker standards programed for the evening. Manuel will be playing arrangements by internationally known composer and arranger Rich DeRosa which were penned for Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra such as Cherokee, Caravan, In My Solitude, Don’t Explain, Just Friends, and others.
A historic once in a lifetime concert performance not to be missed! Join us as for one time only you can experience a bit of glamour and class as only the jazz age could have made!
